Colonial Acres Nursing Home

Colonial Acres Nursing Home of Humboldt, Nebraska opened their doors in July of 1969. Through the work of the Humboldt City Council and a newly formed Colonial Acres Board of Directors, a dream was built. It is still city owned and began as a 67-bed facility. In 1993, an addition was added consisting of a double garage, shop, storage area, rehabilitation room, activity/kitchen, and several offices. The 100 wing was converted to assisted living rooms in 2000. This wing consists of 14 rooms that can house 18 residents. The nursing home went to a 49-bed facility at this time. A courtyard renovation came about in 2006 and consists of a three-tiered fountain, water fall, pond and many flower beds. It is very accessible for residents who enjoy spending many hours relaxing in the fresh air.

To meet the needs of not only the residents, but also the community, the rehabilitation room is also used for Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy.

In the Summer of 2021, the facility began with improvements to the building. Our Assisted Living Rooms have been upgraded with new painting and flooring, as well as our Nursing Home Rooms. Our Living Room and Nursing Station was completed in the fall of 2021. We are currently managed by Rural Health Development and five members appointed by the Humboldt Mayor and City Council.
