Skyview at Bridgeport
Virginia Clarke, Administrator
I grew up in England and came to the States in 1970 and became an American Citizen in 1974. I met my husband in Denver while he was beginning his Air Force career at Lowry Air Force Base in 1971, we were married in 1972. We traveled around America and the world for 25 years. We have two children, a son Rob who was born in Cheyenne Wyoming and a daughter Nikki who was born at Clark AFB in the Philippines. Both our children live in Omaha. Rob is married and has 3 children, Matthew 15, Rebecca 11, and Michael 9. Nikki is not married and lives with her 3 cats and my “grand-dog” Frankie!
I have an Associates Degree in Professional Studies from Metro Community College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Management from Bellevue University. As we traveled around the world I worked in many different businesses as a sales person, bank teller, etc. While living on the base in Alabama a friend and I started a business cleaning base housing for final inspections for families leaving for their next assignments. When we ended up in Omaha I started working for a Medical Case Management/Vocational Rehab company. It was a new company and I earned ten percent of the stock instead of getting a raise after the first year. During the next few years I purchased more stock until I had a fifty one percent ownership of the business. For 10 years I worked all aspects of the company, hiring consultants, opening office locations, setting up software for payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable as well as marketing our services to major insurance companies and working on the weekends as the janitor if necessary. When my husband and I returned to Western Nebraska, my husband is a Bridgeport graduate, I never dreamed I would become a Nursing Home Administrator. The Mayor and City Council of Bayard convinced me to get my license and become the Administrator in Bayard. I have been at Skyview at Bridgeport, formerly Heritage of Bridgeport a Vetter’s Health Services facility, since May 2012. I truly wish I had been introduced to this career path sooner because of all the “jobs” I have had this one makes going to work everyday feel like I am blessed.
