Welcome to Wauneta Care and Therapy Center
Wauneta Care and Therapy Center has been serving the Wauneta community since opening its doors in 1970. Built in 1969, the facility became a reality through the vision, dedication, and hard work of local residents who recognized the need for quality long-term care close to home. Their commitment created a lasting legacy that continues today.
From 1982 until 2012, the facility operated under Vetter Health Services as Heritage of Wauneta. When Vetter Health Services decided not to move forward with the installation of a federally mandated sprinkler system, the Village of Wauneta stepped in and purchased the building and its contents on July 1, 2012. Once again, it was the determination and support of the community that ensured quality care would remain available for local families.
Over the years, Wauneta Care and Therapy Center has undergone numerous renovations and updates, creating a warm, comfortable, and home-like environment for our residents. While our facility is welcoming and well maintained, our greatest strength is our people. We believe compassionate care comes from individuals who genuinely enjoy serving others. Skills can be taught, but kindness, patience, and a passion for caring for seniors come naturally—and those are the qualities we seek in every member of our team.
Today, we are licensed for 36 beds and consistently care for approximately 30 residents or more. Our team of around 60 dedicated employees provides personalized care. Because our caregivers are familiar faces, they build meaningful relationships with residents, meeting not only their physical needs but also enriching their daily lives with friendship and compassion.
Residents enjoy a variety of activities designed to promote social engagement, mental stimulation, and physical wellness. Popular activities include Bingo, trivia, crafts, exercise classes, Bible study, and many seasonal celebrations and special events.
Our professional therapy department offers comprehensive physical, occupational, and speech therapy services, helping residents maintain or regain independence and improve their quality of life.
